VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A swimming advisory has been issued two areas of the city, including along the Oceanfront.
The areas affected by the advisory are along the bay from Little Creek to Fort Story and along the Oceanfront from 8th St. to 22nd St.
The Virginia Beach Health Department issued to two advisories Wednesday afternoon after water tests showed levels of bacteria were higher than the state standard.
Posted signs at each beach read:
Warning! Swimming Advisory
Bacteria Levels Do Not Meet State Water Quality Standards
Swimming Not Recommended Until Further Notice
Officials said they would continue testing the site and would remove the signs when the bacteria levels fall within acceptable amounts again.
