(WVEC) -- They were the must-have toy this past Christmas season; we're of course talking about Hatchimals.

For those who don't know, Hatchimals are toy robots that come inside of a plastic egg. Children must wait patiently for the Hatchimal to, well, hatch. They are then responsible for teaching the toy how to walk, talk, and play games.

The toy was such a hit during the holiday season, that stores sold out almost immediately. Whenever it was announced that a new shipment had arrived, lines would form and some parents would wait for hours just for the chance to grab the number one item on their child's wish list.

Toys R Us will be hosting a free family event called Hatchimals: CollEGGtibles.

The event will be held at all Toys 'R' Us locations Saturday, May 20 between noon and 2 p.m.

Children will get to hatch and keep a free Hatchimal CollEGGtible. They will also be given a free Hatchopia map and collector sheet.
