(Delmravanow.com) -- A train struck the back end of a loaded chicken truck Tuesday evening, slowing traffic on Route 13 in Somerset County and allowing some of the poultry to get free.
The crash happened on Peggy Neck Road north of Princess Anne near Eden before 6 p.m.
The truck was traveling west on Peggy Neck Road and crossing the railroad tracks when a train struck the back of the vehicle. The crash allowed several live chickens to escape
Many of the free birds remained huddled together on the cold, wet Tuesday evening, quietly squawking.
Traffic was reduced to one lane on Route 13 headed north as police and emergency personnel were on the scene.
No further information was available Tuesday night.
