VIRGINIA (WVEC) -- The voter registration deadline for the gubernatorial election is fast approaching.

Eligible Virginians will be able to register until October 16.

New or updated registrations may be submitted in-person by 5 p.m., online by 11:59 p.m., or in person.

To be eligible to vote, you must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be a resident of Virginia
  • Be at least 18-years-old by November 7.
  • Have voting rights restored if convicted of a felony
  • Have had the capacity restored by a court order if declared mentally incapacitated
