Cavs, Titans, & Lady Cougars head to state finals in girls hoops

Five area girls high school basketball teams were vying for spots in the state finals. Three managed to move on. Lake Taylor's, Jordan Poole scored 10 of her team high 17 points in the third period as they pulled away from King's Fork 57-38 in Class 4. They'll face Millbrook in the title game on Saturday.

The machine that is Princess Anne continued to dominate their way to the title game as they rolled past Highland Springs in the Class 5 semis 79-48. Four players were in double figures led by Briana Jackson's 20 points. The Cavaliers will be chasing down their 5th straight title on Thursday at 2pm when they face Thomas Edison.

Surry defeated Stonewall Jackson 49-43 in Class 1 and next take on Parry McCluer Friday at 2pm from Richmond. Not so fortunate were the Landstown Eagles who fell to Cosby in Class 6 by a final of 55-44 and the Tabb girls lost in Class 3 to Hopewell 67-24.
