Here is a brief season preview for the ODU men's basketball team. We met the Monarchs at media day.

ODU is coming off a 25-13 season. They finished strong, winning 15 of their last 18. The Monarchs came up 2 points short in the Conference USA championship game.

Gone are 35 points a game provided by Trey Freeman and Aaron Bacote. Ahmad Caver takes over the starting role at point guard, but coach Jeff Jones reminds everybody it will be a collective effort in replacing last year's stars.

Jones is expecting more offense from returning players, Brandan Stith and Zoran Talley. The newcomers include B.J. Stith and Trey Porter. They red-shirted last year and should be impact players off the bench to start the season.

The non-conference schedule looks to be a challenge and the season opens at home with JMU on November 11.
