NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- It took them a little longer than expected, but on Tursday morning, 80 members of Virginia Task Force 2 are home.

13News Now was there as the convoy of trucks returned to the Virginia Beach Fire Training Center.

The Urban Search and Rescue team was in Florida and Georgia, helping in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.

The area Task Force 2 was assigned to didn't suffer much damage, but the deployment still helped the team develop plans for the future.

"Every time we exercise the system, we get better," says Kenneth Pravetz with TF 2. "We'll go through an after-action process, we'll take any lessons learned, any improvements, any technology advancements, a lot of things happen on every deployment, they all get exercised, and makes the system better every time."

Virginia's other Task Force team is in Savannah, Georgia. The Fairfax-based team is helping with rescue and recovery efforts.
