Winter's not done yet: Nor'easter brings a wintry mix

Wind, rain... and maybe even snow this evening across parts of Hampton Roads.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Another nor'easter, the third within 2 weeks will be bringing wind, rain, and some wintry weather to Hampton Roads.

A coastal low will continue to strengthen off our coast. As this occurs, expect the windy, cold and wet conditions to continue tonight.

As that cold air wraps into the storm, we'll see a changeover from rain to a wintry mix this evening and overnight. We could see minor accumulations in Hampton Roads and on the Eastern Shore, with higher totals expected further inland.

These accumulations will mostly be on grassy/elevated surfaces. The biggest timeframe of concern with temperatures dropping to near freezing will be Monday evening, well after the evening commute most likely.

Local emergency management agencies do not expect it to be a major winter event for Hampton Roads. Most cities told 13News Now they will continue to monitor the developing forecast.

The Virginia Department of Transportation said the ground is too warm for them to expect any snow to stick, and they did not have plans for pre-treatment.
