VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (WVEC) - The 44th annual Neptune Festival is taking place this weekend at the Oceanfront!
The Neptune Festival Grand Parade starts at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. The parade route is on Atlantic Avenue from 16th to 32nd Street.
Don't miss out seeing over 100 military units, floats, and bands. Be sure to catch King Neptune XLIV and the entire royal court including over 18 marching bands.
Other activities during the Neptune Festival included the international sand sculpting championship.
The sculptors will begin working Sept. 26 and will finish their works of art on Thursday afternoon. They're all fighting for prize money and the championship title!
After judges score the sculptures, the gallery will open to the public on 7th street starting Sept. 29 and will remain open until Oct. 9.
Admission to "Neptune's Land of Sand," the sand sculpture gallery, is 5 dollars per adult with children 12 and under free when accompanied by an adult. A BOGO free lunch coupon is also included with the ticket.
Other weekend festivities include a 8K, 5K and crab crawl, food, exhibits, music and more along all 34 blocks of the Oceanfront boardwalk!
Saturday night at 9 p.m., there will be fireworks!
