Highly anticipated SNES Classic retro console goes on sale

Retro gaming is so popular that the demand has spurred Nintendo to bring back a classic console and increase production of a not-yet-released console.

Following in the footsteps of the insanely popular retro NES Classic game console, Nintendo released its 16-bit successor, the SNES Classic on Friday.

Amid fears of a repeat of the shortages that plagued the NES Classic Edition, Nintendo has said it is shipping more units of the Super NES Classic for its Sept. 29 launch date compared to what shipped for the NES Classic in all of last year. Some retailers are reporting to have dozens of units in stock for launch day.

Some 24-hour Walmarts have said they would have the SNES go on sale at 12:01 a.m. while you may need to line up early at your favorite game retailer to get a chance to pick one up.

Best Buy announced they would have a ticketing system in place for Friday morning, similar to what they do for Black Friday.  Tickets will be handed out at 7 a.m. local time on a first come, first serve basis. The store will open at 10 a.m.
