Girl Scouts hand out treats to service members at Norfolk International Airport

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Girl Scouts were at the Norfolk International Airport handing out treats, such as nuts and candies, to service members, Saturday morning.

Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast donated nearly 2,000 boxes of treats to the USO and the USO Service Center at the airport.

The donation was a part of the annual Gift for Caring program, which offers products to family and friends to purchase during the fall season as a way to support troop activists and services. Extra product may be purchased or donated to the USO for distribution to our military men and women.

"Girl Scouts have really embraced the Gift of Caring program that is part of out fall product sales," said Tracy Keller, CEO of Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast. "Community service is a very important part of Girl Scouting and this is one way girls can help others. We love working with the USO and have partnered with them on many projects, including Gift of Caring."

The girls were at the airport from 10 a.m. until noon.
