NORFOLK, Va (WVEC) -- Virginia celebrates its 60th anniversary event, Raise a Ruckus!, September 17, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club.
This event is aimed to acknowledge the support we have received in the last 60 years and celebrate the future of Young Audiences of Virginia.
Sandra Parker, from ABC13, will kick off the night as special guest host and auctioneer. The evening will include Appalachian musicians, "After Jack", a paddle raise and a silent auction.
All proceeds will go towards the continued efforts to bring arts-in-education programming to schools state wide.
Since 1955, Young Audiences of Virginia has been the leading provider of high quality arts-in-education programming for the state, with all programs grounded in the Virginia Standards of Learning core curriculum.
"During my 15 years with YAV, I have experienced the impact of arts-in-education programming throughout Virginia. I am happy to be a part of an organization that uses innovation and creativity to enrich the lives of children," said Michael Kerry Williams, Executive Director of Young Audiences of Virginia.
Guests are encouraged to come dressed in country and/or black tie attire and celebrate arts-in-education with Young Audiences of Virginia. The organization is excited for its continued support during this celebratory time.
