STUDY: Hampton Roads sees biggest increase in Millennials

A recent study shows a large growth in the number of millennials who call Hampton Roads home.

Hampton Roads is on the map for Millennials!

That's because this area has seen the biggest uptick, percentage-wise, when it comes to the amount of Millennials who are moving here.

According to a ranking conducted by the Urban Land Institute, the entire metro area saw a 16 percent increase from 2010 to 2015.

That's the largest increase of any metro area in the entire country!

Urban Land Institute, a real estate research group, suggests focusing on public transportation, as well as developing city centers like downtown Norfolk and Virginia Beach Town Center is the main drive of that growth.

And none other to come in second was Richmond!

That city saw an almost 15% increase when it came to the percentage of young adults moving to that area.

Now New York City on the other hand had the greatest increase in the number of Millennials who moved there, which totaled out at nearly 30,000.

However, that only represented a 2.5% uptick for their metro area.
