Turkeys pardoned at The Virginia Living Museum

Virginia Living Museum pardons turkeys

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- The Virginia Living Museum hosted their seventh annual Turkey Pardon, Wednesday.

Crowds were able to enjoy cider, crafts, and games at the event, which began at 10 a.m.

The event was created to celebrate the long and healthy life of the museum's wild turkey.

Vice Mayor Tina Vick officially pardoned the wild turkey, as crowds celebrated with home-made turkey callers.

The event, however, was not just about helping the turkey. Visitors were asked to bring non-perishable food items to contribute to "Fill the Canoe." People who brought donations received a coupon for a bottomless fountain drink or coffee from Wild Side Cafe.
