'Tis the season: let's look at the positive aspects of our jobs

Dear Readers:

It’s the start of the holiday season, so even though the purpose of my column is to help you with your workplace woes and customer service issues, like years past, I’m taking this joyful time of year to focus on some of the positive things happening in the workplace.

This week I’d like you to share what you enjoy most about your job.  I realize my request will be an easy task for some of you and quite the challenge for others.  For those of you who find it difficult or nearly impossible, I understand how you feel.  Nevertheless, I truly believe we should not focus a lot of our attention on the negative.  If we do, good things are much less likely to happen.

Whether it be your paycheck, the ability to make a difference in your community, your lunch hour, or some other aspect of your job, I bet you can think of something you enjoy or appreciate.

Let’s remember what Melchor Lim said, “Everyone’s life has positive and negative aspects; whether you’re happy and successful or not depends greatly on which aspects you focus on.”
