VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) Caregivers for the elderly are invited to learn more about tools and support available to them in Hampton Roads.
The Art of Healthy Aging Forum and Expo is happening on Thursday, November 10th, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
The focus this year is "The Joys and Challenges of Caregiving,"
The event will feature an exhibition hall full of vendors offering resources for caregivers and senior adults to help provide them with tools and support needed to be healthy and happy.
The event is produced by Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia and presented by top health and well-being company Humana.
Speaker and Panel Guests:
Leisa Easom, Ph.D, executive director of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving at Georgia Southwestern State University, is the keynote speaker. In addition to her keynote address, five standalone workshops will be facilitated by regional professionals. They include the following:
• The Cup is Half Full: Support for Military and Caregivers
• Eat Right, Age Well
• Setting your Sights on Health
• Keeping the Keys
• Making your Money Last
Seating at the event is limited. Advance tickets are $20 per person. Tickets can be purchased securely online through Tuesday, Oct. 7 at www.ssseva.org or by calling 757-461-9481, ext. 204. Cost is $25 at door. Group discounts are available.
