Touching showing of support for grandmother who beat breast cancer

WESTMINSTER - People don't often associate sweet moments with the football field, but there's no other way to describe what one Westminster youth football team did for a cancer survivor last weekend.
9NEWS viewer Laura Gonzalez-Huizar shared this video with us of the Hyland Hills Rage football team honoring Martha "Martie" Essebaggers after their game in Lafayette last Saturday.

Her grandson Logan Kokai, the team's quarterback, is the first boy seen in the video giving her a pink rose and hugging her.
Other team members did the same in honor of her beating stage two breast cancer.

Martie's daughter Marci Kokai tells us her mother was diagnosed in November last year.
After undergoing several rounds of aggressive, and non-aggressive, chemotherapy over 20 weeks and radiation for another six and a half weeks - she is now cancer-free.
Marci said her mother never misses a game and plans to be on the sidelines for the team's last regular season game this Saturday.
