NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- A Newport News man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for drug trafficking and for his involvement in stealing more than 50 guns from a Gloucester County gun store in 2017.
23-year-old Xavier Justice Lee Greenauer-Mattox pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
According to court documents, Greenauer-Mattox was part of a robbery crew who stole 52 firearms from Hunter's Heaven Gun Store in Hayes back on February 12, 2017. Nine days later, Greenauer-Mattox and three other suspects were all arrested following a high-speed chase with law enforcement.
To date, only 18 of the stolen guns have been recovered. Investigators are continuing their search for the remaining weapons.
In addition to Greenauer-Mattox's conviction, the following suspects have also pleaded guilty:
- 19-year-old Angel Lewis Bruno pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime. He was previously sentenced to eight years in prison
- 28-year-old Alissha Shalee Faulks pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a stolen firearm. Faulk was previously sentenced to three years of probation
- 23-year-old Philip Thomas Evans pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 30, 2018.
