CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- There was a historic groundbreaking ceremony in Chesapeake on Friday.
Crews are getting to work on the new museum and visitor's center for the Great Bridge Battlefield and Waterways Park.
The park was the site of a key early battle during the Revolutionary War.
A foundation is working to preserve the land, and teach the public about the history of the area. They hope to have the visitor's center and museum complete by the end of September 2018.
