Norfolk to launch 'Rent Ready' program

The goal is to help build better relationships between landlords and tenants.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The City of Norfolk is preparing to launch its "Rent Ready" program on Tuesday.

Rent Ready Norfolk is a class that offers some helpful tips to both landlords, renters, and property owners.

This program comes at a time when Norfolk was named one of the top 10 cities for eviction rates in a report published by the New York Times. It also ensures all parties know their rights and responsibilities when it comes to renting.

People can learn everything from best practices to misconceptions of renting and emergencies on or near properties. It also teaches people how to deal with and come up with solutions to common problems.

The launch of Rent Ready begins at Slover Library at 11:30 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m.
