OUTER BANKS, N.C., (WVEC) -- A kite caught in a power transmission line is to blame for a brief outage on Friday.
Cape Hatteras Electric Cooperative officials say the kite was caught in the line between Avon and Buxton.
OUTAGE ALERT: We have a kite caught in the transmission line between Avon & Buxton. We will need to take a brief transmission outage that will affect all of #HatterasIsland and #OcracokeIsland to remove the kite. This outage should last about 10 minutes.

The outage affected all of Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands but lasted only about 10 minutes. As of 12:20 p.m., all power was restored.
