CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. (WVEC) - 13News Now Daybreak is highlighting places you can go to be a tourist in your own town and today we took a tour of Chincoteague Island on the Eastern Shore with Captain Barry's Backbay Cruises.
It was truly a hands-on experience. Captain Barry has been operating his eco-tours for more than 25 years. During the tour, participants get off the boat several times.
“I want to get you completely involved in this trip, whatever it takes,” Captain Barry said. “We get on the boat, we get off the boat. We dig, we feel, all the senses taste, touch, sound, smell.”
You’ll have the opportunity to catch crabs and even eat some fresh seafood.
The tours last about two hours and cost $40 for adults and $35 for kids under 12. You need to make a reservation.
