Army, Navy veterans have a croquet showdown in Va. Beach

The Army-Navy rivalry was put to some friendly competition as residents Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay faced off at their 5th Annual Croquet Game.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- The Army-Navy rivalry was put to some friendly competition as residents Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay faced off at their 5th Annual Croquet Game.

"First year the Army won and the next three years the Navy won, so it's our turn," said Jack Barton, who was on team Army.

Twenty veterans from all branches of the military competed in the intense match with Army trying to make a comeback against Navy’s last three wins.

"We plan to make it four out of five," said Pete Bondi, retired Navy Admiral.

The friendly competition embodies the spirit of the long running Army-Navy football game complete with cheerleaders and plenty of pomp and circumstance.

The results: Navy won 6 to 4.
