Accident on Route 460, two flown from scene with major injuries

Two airlifted from scene of major crash

WINDSOR, Va. (WVEC) -- An accident that caused two people to be flown from the scene on Route 460 westbound in Windsor shut down all lanes Thursday morning.

At 9:11 a.m., the Virginia State Police were contacted to investigate a vehicle crash with injuries at the 1300 block of Windsor Boulevard.

A Nissan sedan was attempting to make a left when a tractor trailer struck it from behind.

The male driver of the Nissan, and female passenger suffered major injuries and were flown from the scene.

The lanes are shut down for Nightingale and a second medevac helicopter landing to transport injured subjects.

Edward Stith, the tractor trailer driver was no injured, but he was charged with reckless driving. 

All lanes have been reopened.

The accident is still under investigation and no further information was released
