NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- The 4th of July holiday weekend brought out plenty of people enjoying sales at the Norfolk Premium Outlets. All that activity, combined with people headed to area beaches brought more traffic along Interstate 64 and Northampton Blvd.
13News Now headed out to the outlets driving different routes to help people avoid traffic confusion and get in and out of the shopping center without a hitch.
The first route 13News Now found was on Northampton Blvd to Burton Station Rd. If you make a left onto Burton Station Rd it will take you to the back entrance of the outlets along Miller Store Road.
You can also avoid the Northampton Blvd exit and take the Robin Hood Rd off the Interstate. Take Robin Hood Road to Miller Store Road and this will also lead you to the back entrance of the outlets.
If you do exit Northampton Blvd from Interstate 64 you will want to stay in the left lane verses the far-right lane and turn right from this lane. This lane will let lead you to a left turning lane designated specifically for turning into the main entrance of the outlets on Premium Outlets Blvd. However, this way has more congestion.
The City of Norfolk is still making changes Northampton Boulevard to improve traffic flow. You can expect to see light timing changes, new signs and extra turning lanes.
