Authorities: Man sexually assaulted woman after car wreck

STAFFORD, Va. (AP) - Authorities in Virginia are searching for a man who they say dragged a young woman out of her car after their vehicles collided and sexually assaulted her.

Stafford County Sheriff's Office public information officer M.C. Morris Moncure says the collision happened early Monday while both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Kings Highway.

Morris Moncure says the department won't speculate as to whether the crash was an accident or intentional act.

After the crash, deputies say the suspect removed the victim from her vehicle, dragging her to a nearby ditch, where he sexually assaulted her over a two-hour period.

The suspect then left in his vehicle and the victim called 911.

Moncure said Tuesday that the woman was taken to a hospital, where she was treated and released.

If you have any information on who this man may be, please call the Stafford County Sheriff's Office at (540) 658-4400.
