Be on the lookout for counterfeit bills in James City County

(WVEC) -- James City County police are warning of counterfeit bills that have been circulating over the past few months.

Police are urging you to take a few extra minutes to closely look at bills during cash transactions.

Reports have claimed the bills are movie prop currency and are easily obtained from online vendors.

The bill appears to be very realistic.

Standard grade props are marked for "Motion Picture Use Only," while others are almost undistinguishable from the real currency unless you read the fine print.

If anyone sees one of these bills or if they know who might be responsible for circulating these bills, they are encouraged to call police at (757) 253- 1800.

The most recent counterfeit reports were on June 4 at the Humelsine Parkway and Jamestown Road, and on June 7 on the 3000 block of Liberty Ridge Parkway.

According to James City County Police in 2015 there were 66 reports of counterfeit bills.
