Ches. schools investigating photos of possible student wearing KKK costume

According to social media posts, the teens go to Hickory High School.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- Two photos posted on Instagram are making their rounds on social media, prompting angry comments.

The pictures depict a pair of teens dressed up in costume— one teen is wearing a Ku Klux Klan robe. In the second picture, both teens have their arms extended, mimicking a Nazi salute.

The images were shared on other social media platforms, people claiming the teens are students at Hickory High School. 13News Now contacted Chesapeake Public Schools for comment. A spokesperson responded with this statement:

“The school division is aware of the incident and is taking appropriate action; however, we do not comment on individual student discipline.”

“It’s gonna be offensive to some people as it should be. I wouldn't want my kid to do that. I don’t think they should face any consequences, however, I think it was done in very poor taste,” Wendy Gonzalez said.

“It makes me very angry It’s up to the parents to discipline those children and tell them what’s right and wrong,” Kitty Thompson said.

“I think in this day and age people don't think of the consequences for their actions or how that might impact others around them or how others might interpret their actions,” Cedric West said.
