Chesapeake Sheriff's Office wins first place in Special Olympics fundraiser

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WVEC) -- The Chesapeake Sheriff's Office took home the first-place trophy for the 11th year in a row at the "Dulles Day Plane Pull" on Sept. 23.

The "Dulles Day Festival & Plane Pull" is one of Special Olympics Virginia's biggest fundraisers.

The Chesapeake Sheriff's Office pulled a 186,000-pound FedEx airbus 12 feet in 5.1 seconds beating out more than 80 other teams.

Earlier this month, the 25-man team pulled a 50,000 pound fire truck with their bare hands as a warm up for the big event.

Proceeds from the fundraiser help provide year-round athletic training and health care to more than 11,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities.
