Help keep senior citizens warm this winter

Now is the time to donate blankets or warm winter items to help seniors keep warm, before the frigid weather comes.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- It may not feel like it right now, but winter is right around the corner.

Senior citizens in our community are in need, and they're asking for help now, before the frigid weather takes hold.

The Peninsula Agency on Aging (PAA), Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Virginia Health Services & Personal Touch have partnered together to gather blankets, warm winter items and cash donations to help ensure that low-income seniors in our community stay warm during the winter.

You can donate blankets, coats, gloves, other warm winter items between October 16 and December 15, 2017. You can also make monetary donations, which go directly to the PAA's Energy Assistance Program that helps seniors cover the costs of their utility bills.
