Driver dead after attempting to hit a pedestrian with her car

One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in north Charlotte, police said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The driver of a vehicle who had attempted to purposefully strike a pedestrian was killed when she crashed her car after fleeing the scene.

On Friday night around 8 p.m., Ebony Little had attempted to purposefully strike a pedestrian that was known to her with her car. Little fled the area after the altercation, the pedestrian was not struck by the vehicle.

Little then drove her Lexus inbound on Beatties Ford Road, she was speeding. Little drove off the right side of the road, onto the sidewalk. She then over-corrected to the left and lost control of the vehicle. Little's car crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. The right side of the Lexus was struck the front of a Buick Lesabre that was traveling outbound on Beatties Ford Road.

Little's car rolled over onto its roof off of the left-hand side of the road.

The driver of the Buick Lesabre was not seriously injured as a result of the crash. Ebony Little was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

Investigators have discovered that Little was speeding and that alcohol was a contributing factor. 

Little's family has been notified.
