Gloucester man arrested after leading deputies on chase

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WVEC) -- A man is facing a number of charges after leading Gloucester County Sheriff's deputies on a chase.

Deputies say they were alerted to a report of a reckless driver in York County just after 1 p.m. on June 23.

The Gloucester County Sheriff's deputies spotted the driver, identified as Victor Blumberg, on George Washington Memorial Highway.

Deputies say Blumberg attempted to elude arrest by refusing to stop, then allegedly drove recklessly and ran into the median on several occasions during the pursuit.

The car eventually was stopped around the area of George Washington Highway and Rappahannock Concrete.

Blumberg was arrested for DUI/2nd Offense within 5-years, Eluding Police, DUI Refusal, Possession of Marijuana, Drinking while Operating a Motor Vehicle and Failure to Obey Highway Signs.

Blumber is in jail without bond.

The Gloucester Sheriff's Office is asking any witnesses in the case to contact (804) 693-3890 and ask for Master Deputy Jason Schnurr.
