VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- One of two drivers charged in a deadly 2015 crash in Virginia Beach has pleaded guilty.
Charles Chevez Hazer was convicted of DUI and involuntary manslaughter.
Police say early one morning of April 2015, a Chevy Malibu was driving on Newtown Road and was attempting to turn left onto Greenwich Road when it was struck on the passenger side by a Ford Mustang.
The collision killed 33-year-old Heidi Jo Friedman, who was a passenger in the Malibu. Four other people were injured, including one serious injury.
Hazer was the driver of the Ford Mustang. The driver of the Malibu, Dennis Brito, was also charged with DUI and involuntary manslaughter. His trial is currently underway.
Hazer's sentencing is scheduled for February 2017.
