One arrest made following exchange of gunfire

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) - Police have so far made one arrest following an incident where two vehicles reportedly opened fire on each other in Hampton.

Investigators say they received a call of shots fired around 4:30 Sunday afternoon in the first block of Granger Drive. Officers spoke with several witnesses, who reported two vehicles -- a green Subaru SUV and a silver sedan, possibly a newer model Toyota Camry -- were in the area when they began to exchange gunfire with one another.

Four unoccupied vehicles and one occupied dwelling were hit by bullets, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.

On Monday, police arrested 22-year-old Justice Daequan Green of Newport News, and charged him with discharging a firearm in public, discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle, shooting into an occupied dwelling, reckless handling of a firearm.

Green is currently in custody at the Hampton City Jail.

The motive and circumstances behind the shooting are under investigation.
