Police: Hampton shooting that injured man not random act of violence

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Investigators have determined that a late Monday night shooting in Hampton that landed one man in the hospital was not a random act of violence.

Police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Pennwood Dr. at 10:45 p.m. Monday.

We're told the shooting took place in the parking lot of the Mercury West Apartments where officers arrived to find a 30-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Medics transported him to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say this is not a random act, but the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are still unknown.

Authorities don't have any other details, including suspect information.
