Sheriff: 3 teens crash stolen car into tree while trying to elude

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident involving three juveniles and a stolen car.

On the morning of November 21, deputies were dispatched to the Yorkshire Downs area for suspicious persons.

When deputies arrived, they saw a dark colored Jeep driving with its lights off. The car then allegedly sped away in an attempt to evade being stopped, ran a stop sign and proceeded toward Hampton.

At that time, the deputy lost sight of the car and continued to try to locate it.

Deputies found that the car had ran off the road near Commander Sheppard Boulevard and crashed into a tree. Hampton Police were called to work the scene.

The car was occupied by three juveniles.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office, the car was stolen out of Newport News. The three teens were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.
