Shooting claims man's life in Portsmouth

Man killed in Portsmouth home

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) – A homicide investigation is underway after a shooting claimed a man’s life in Portsmouth.

According to police, dispatchers received a called at 2:40 a.m. Thursday morning in the 30 block of Swanson Parkway.

For much of the morning, investigators searched the home from the front and back. 

The victim, age 42, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified.

Neighbors said a family lived inside the Swanson Homes unit. 

“I’ve seen people over there at that house, you know, but there don’t usually be a whole lot of disturbance," said Eddie Deberry. "There aren't a lot of people in and out of that house.”

No suspect information has been released.
