State police investigating shooting on I-64 in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Virginia State Police is asking for the public's help regarding a shooting that took place in Hampton on Sunday.

Around 1 a.m., a 2005 Lexus, was heading eastbound on I-64 at Pine Chapel Road when a dark, burgundy vehicle pulled up alongside the driver's side and fired shots. The Lexus was said to have been shot multiple times.

State police were called to the area of 42nd Street in Newport News around 1:20 a.m. where the vehicle had stopped, according to Sergeant Stephan Vick.

The man driving the Lexus and two other men were taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

State police said a fourth passenger was not injured.

Authorities ask anyone with information who may have witnessed the shooting to call Virginia State Police at 757-424-6800.
