Two arrests made after attempted robbery in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (WVEC) -- Two people are behind bars after an attempted robbery Thursday in Hampton.

Authorities received a call around 8:17 p.m. reporting an attempted robbery in the 1200 block of N. King St.

Police say an investigation found that the suspects, 19-year-old Robert Damon Stonewall and an unidentified  16-year-old girl, were contacted by the victim to purchase or sell an electronic device. The victim, an adult male, met with both suspects on N. King St. when the male suspect pulled out a handgun and demanded the victims belongings.

The victim fled the scene on foot and called police.

Officers responded and detained two people that matched the descriptions of the suspects given by the victim. The handgun used in the crime was recovered and returned as stolen from the City of Hampton.

Stonewall and the unidentified 16-year-old girl were each charged with one count of attempted robbery and one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police say Stonewall faces a separate charge of receiving a stolen firearm and the female teen faces a separate charge of possession of a firearm by a juvenile.
