Woman robbed, sexually assaulted at Newport News motel

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WVEC) -- Police say a woman was robbed and sexually assaulted inside a Newport News motel over the weekend.

Investigators say it happened at a local motel in the 900 block of J. Clyde Morris Boulevard on the morning of November 12.  The victim, a 23-year-old Portsmouth woman, says she was in her room waiting for her boyfriend and children to return when she heard a man's voice and opened the door to look outside.

That's when the suspect forced his way in and pointed a gun at her. He took cash and personal property, and then sexually assaulted the victim.

After the attack, the man fled in an unknown direction.

The suspect description is vague, but police say the man is a light-skinned black male about 6'2" and was seen wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie. The suspect also had facial hair.
