Driver of car issued summons after car, school bus collide in Va. Beach

There was a school bus accident with students on board causing both drivers to get hurt on Tuesday.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Police issued a summons to the driver of a car that crashed into a school bus filled with children Tuesday.

Several people, including students, were hurt in the wreck on North Witchduck Road near Jericho Road.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools spokeswoman told 13News Now the bus was carrying 29 students from Bayside Sixth Grade Campus.

Medics took five of the students and the bus driver to the hospital. Their injuries were minor. 

Virginia Beach Fire Department spokesman Art Kohn told 13News Now that medics took two people who were in the car to the hospital. Their injuries were serious, but they were expected to survive.

Cox said parents picked up most of the students from the crash scene. VBCPS sent another bus to take the remaining students home.
