Drivers face more traffic while crews work on Indian River Road

Public Works crews started repair work at the intersection of Indian River Road and Ferrell Parkway.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) - Public Works crews started repair work at the intersection of Indian River Road and Ferrell Parkway.

The work started Tuesday and will last until October 30, weather permitting.

"On my way to work, I noticed it once I got off the highway and I was like oh man, I'm going to be late," explained Davonte Diaz.

Diaz and other drivers may notice extra congestion for the next two weeks between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday on Ferrell Parkway and Indian River Road.

Diaz said, "Three lanes and they are all merging into one and they are all in a rush. You can just Imagine what nightmare that will cause."

Public Works crews are adjusting the median curb line next to the left merge lane on Ferrell Parkway in order for larger cars to properly turn.

The northbound lane Indian River Road will also be closed during those times.

"They should probably do it at night time when there is not as much traffic, Sydney Jones explained.

Jones owns Chia Bella Hair Salon and is worried about drivers missing appointments.

"Our appointments will probably be late because of the traffic," she said. "Which then kind of takes money away from us and our livelihood."

If you don't want to deal with congestion, detours will be in place or you can take an alternate route.
