Estranged father speaks out about son accused of killing his mother

13News Now Niko Clemmons spoke with the estranged father of Michael Webb, the man accused of killed his mother.

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) – There is new information on the man accused of killing his mother in James City County.

Michael Webb is charged with 64-year-old Edna Webb's death.

Last month, Edna Webb filed a civil claim for eviction against her son.

According to the summons issued Monday, a judge ordered Webb to leave his mother's home within 30-days, after threatening to kill her, destroying her property, and much more.

On Wednesday, police found Edna Webb's body in the kitchen.

Just before 10 a.m., James City County Police officers were dispatched to a residence at the 1800 block of Ferrell Drive in the Brookside Haven subdivision to check on the welfare of a Webb, who did not show up for work that morning.

Officers arrived and found the front door to be locked, but went in through a rear door and located Webb deceased in the kitchen area of the home. The cause of death appears to be blunt force trauma; however, investigators are awaiting results from the autopsy.

Michael Webb was located at the Happy Shopper on Pocahontas Trail. He was taken into custody without incident and was subsequently arrested and charged with second degree murder in connection with this incident.

On Friday, 13News Now got in touch with Julius Webb over the phone. Webb says Edna is his former wife and Michael is his estranged son.

He had no idea Michael was arrested for killing Edna, being that he hasn’t talked to either one of them in years, and, he lives in North Carolina.

“I lost all contact with them and the relationship was severed,” Webb says. “Over the years he (Michael) began to change.”

Michael Webb has a criminal history that includes armed robbery. It's a history his estranged father is all too familiar with.

“He got in situations that his mom would tell me,” Webb says. “I talked with him and his behavior would change for some time, but then he would end up in the same mess.”

Webb is being held at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail without bond.
