Ex-nurse accused of stealing vials of Fentanyl from hospital

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - A former nurse at a North Carolina hospital is accused by authorities of stealing vials of Fentanyl while she worked there.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports the State Bureau of Investigation charged 28-year-old Hayley Lammon Brown of Elkin with one felony count of embezzlement of a controlled substance by employee and a misdemeanor count of assault on a law enforcement officer.
Elkin police said officers went to Brown's home on April 20 after a call about a possible drug overdose involving her husband. While investigating, an officer reported handling several vials of Fentanyl, which was stolen from Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The SBI said the officer was exposed through his bare hands and required hospitalization.
Brown is free on a $5,000 bond. It's not known if she has an attorney.
