Former Peninsula Regional Jail guard granted bond

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- A now-retired jail officer has been granted bond after he was in prison for inappropriately touching inmates.

Henry Rhim, 63, of Newport News was taken into custody on October 12 after two female inmates at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail say he made sexual advances toward them.

According to the inmates, the incidents occurred between April 1 and July 31st.

Court documents said Rhim touched the inmates inappropriately, made inappropriate comments, and, on one occasion, made them remove their clothes while working in the laundry room.

Thursday morning a judge granted Rhim bond and he has been released on a $20,000 secure bond from the Middle Peninsula Regional Jail.

No further information was released.
