Rabid foxes found in Virginia Beach, Williamsburg

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Two cities in Hampton Roads are alerting their residents after two foxes tested positive for rabies.

In Virginia Beach, a fox was found in the 3000 block of Lynn Acres in the Kings Grant subdivision that tested positive for the deadly disease, while in Williamsburg, a rabid fox was recovered in the 100 block of Indian Circle, off Pocahontas Trail.

Both animals are deceased.

Rabies is 100 percent fatal if left untreated. If anyone in your household, including your pet, has had any exposure to stray or wild animals in these area within the past few weeks, please contact your physician, or call the Health Department at 518-2700 in Virginia Beach, or 603-4277 in Williamsburg.
