VIRGINIA (WVEC) -- If you'd rather save money on your power bill and look at other people's holiday lights instead, a Hampton Roads real estate agent is making that even easier for you.
30-year-old Sam Sansalone said he hits the road most every day for work and now for a big project. It's a project with a mission to find the best lights in town.
Sansalone said, “ I realize that there’s no place to find these kind of neighborhood lights easily."
He drives across the entire Southside including cities like Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk. So far, he has spent more than 30 hours on this project
He said he's not only person that finds it tough to find Christmas lights around nearby.
Now, his interactive map gives is his solution and it anyone the chance to find festive holiday displays.
The blog uses Google maps with drop pins, so you can discover the holiday spirit without having to drive far.
Each location is color coded. Blue drop pins mean the house is nice, green pins mean the house is a must sees, and yellow means there are minions, from the movie 'Despicable Me' are in the yard.
You can hear the excitement in his voice when he discovers new holiday houses. “This is awesome are you kidding look at all this,” said Sansalone.
Neighbors said he’s putting them in the spirit too.
“It’s a really cool idea and it’s a good way for people to show off all the hard work that they put into decorating their houses,” said Virginia Beach resident, Chris Douglas.
The Wainwright real estate agent said it’s an idea that’s not about his job. “ I love to give and I wanted to find things that hadn’t been done before that people could actually use,” said Sansalone.
However, he hopes it’ll lighten up community spirits with a glowing holiday drive.
The Hampton Roads native said he wants to build the website so it shows what time display lights come on and this is really a community map.
So if you email him, he’ll add locations you think have good holiday light display.
