Isle of Wight County Animal Shelter overcrowding, special adoption sale

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- The Isle of Wight County Animal Shelter is running out of room for their cats and kittens, so they started several great sales on adoption fees.

The shelter is offering a "Catmus in July" special for the entire month of July. It's a 2 for 1 deal where you can adopt any 2 cats or kittens for $75. Normally the adoption fee is $75 per cat/kitten.

Another sale from July 1 to 9, if you aren't ready for two cats, single adoption costs will be only $50.

The shelter is running out of room for kittens and cats very quickly, as well as other shelters in the area.

Their adoption room, and two observation rooms are completely full. Makeshift kennels have been made in two offices just to hold more kittens.

According to the Isle of Wight County Animal Shelter this time of year they normally see an influx of cats, and they think it gets worse every summer.

All adoption fees include spay/neutering, plus all needed vaccinations and deworming.

The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m..
