BUFFALO, NY - Juan "Mach" Rodriguez is scheduled to be released from a Rehabilitation center in Rochester today. The 12-year-old boy was shot in the forehead over the summer while standing at the front door of his Humason Avenue home. His mom tells 2 On Your Side, when the boy is released, he has no where to live.
Sonia Pagan told 2 On Your Side she needs a sterile environment and refuses to take her son back to the home and neighborhood where he was shot. Pagan thought she found a home for her family, but the landlord told her, after she paid a deposit, the home would not be ready for months.
Young men were firing on Humason Avenue and Juan was caught in the crossfire. He was 11-years-old at the time of the shooting. He was standing on his porch and trying to get other children out of danger when a stray bullet hit him in the head.
Pagan is in need of a four bedroom lower apartment or a three bedroom house. Juan needs a wheelchair to get around and has some visual problems.
