NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Police have released new details regarding the investigation into a 49-year-old woman's death over the weekend in Norfolk.
We're told that a verbal altercation took place between two men in the 3700 block of Kimball Terrace Sunday evening.
Authorities say that 50-year-old Ulysses Butler and 41-year-old Ronald Best were involved in a verbal fight at that location. After the fight, Best returned to his car.
Butler then produced a firearm, shooting several rounds at Best, striking the car. Best suffered non-life threatening injuries from the shattered glass.
Then, moments later, Best emerged from the car, shooting towards Butler's home. As a result, Samantha Ganther, 49, was wounded in the home and died.
Best was arraigned in Norfolk General Court on June 20 and his bond hearing is set for June 23.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Butler was charged with malicious wounding, shooting into an occupied vehicle and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Both men are being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
